- Choosing Airlines
When choosing on airlines do not combine airlines otherwise the price will go up. If you start for example with Continental on the departure then choose Continental on the return as well.
- Advance Bookings
Last minute bookings are usually high fares. Here are some of the common fares that airlines use:
- 7 Day Advance Booking
- 14 Day Advance Booking
- 21 Day Advance Booking
- 30 Days Maximum stay
- Must have a minimum of Saturday or Sunday
- Departure on Saturday and Return by Monday/Tuesday (3-4 Maximum stay)
Fares can have any combinations of this and other rules, so don't give up.
- Alternate Destinations/Departures
If you're departing and arriving city pair cost to much, then try changing the airport, you might find cheaper combinations there. Example, wanted to go to Chicago from New York. Try JFK to ORD or JFK to MDW or LGA to ORD or LGA to MDW. New York and Chicago have two airports and prices due vary if you depart/arrive to other airports that might be selling cheaper fares.
